Top Lists of To-Do Lists.

by Kim on September 29th, 2006

Things to Bring, S#!T to Do... and other inventories of anxiety Remember the good old Franklin Covey Life Planner? It was based on the strategy that you had to Define, Plan and Act on What Matters Most.

Its contents consisted of many different “workshops”, formulas and templates to help you both get and keep your life in order and to define your goals and personal objectives — I will live by the values of integrity, freedom of choice and I will not fear anyone.

Basically it was a 12-step program for control freaks…and you could get one with a red Coach leather cover.

I so wanted to be one of those people whose Covey Planner was filled with to-do’s, appointments, yellow stickies…brimming. But I just couldn’t do it…I have no idea why. But if you ever got the chance to watch me try to follow baking instructions, you’d be able to answer that for me.

Anyway, in today’s frenetic society, organization=well-being, and there are a heck of a lot of companies out there whose reason for being is to help us keep our lives in order.

For example, I can tell you that I did NOT have a bridal list when I was planning my wedding, which could explain how I forgot to invite our poor usher to our rehearsal dinner.

An outfit such as Knock Knock Sationery might have been just the ticket to help me figure out all of the neccessary crap I needed to be thinking about.

But now you can organize your life right at your computer. Here are a few other companies that you might consider, unless your one of those folks who has a to-do list on your fridge:

Psst — don’t tell anyone, but I used to be one of those Franklin Covey planner people. In fact, it was way back when it was only Franklin.

Now that I’m not so obsessive, I use. . . well, wait — I still use a Franklin Covey planner, just a smaller one that I’m not so compulsive about.

C’mon Kim, you can join the “list” club, too!

Hi Mary Jo! Well I would suspect that you really need to be a Franklin devotee…with your schedule and all.

But me, I try…but then something happens and I drift off into doodle-ville.:)

    Hi Sally,

I could have re-designed my living room with my “non-essential” doodles. :).
