Perfect Fit

by Tracee Sioux on August 21st, 2007

zack-1st-b-day-bare-bum8×10.jpgHave you heard of Zafu.com? I read about this in O Magazine last week. It’s brilliant - if it works.

You can find your perfect jeans or bra fit by answering a short survey about your personal body type, so they claim.

The site will break it down by how likely the jeans or bra are to fit you, price range, length, style of leg, etc.

My perfect fit jean is a Lucky Easy Rider for around $100, according to Zafu.

If it works it would save a lot of miserable trying-on in a florescent dressing room. If I limit what I try on to the most likely fit, what a huge time saver.

It will also be handy information to carry around should I find a pair in a discount store like Ross, a thrift store, garage sale or clearance rack.

They offer the same service for the perfect bra fit. My perfect fit is a Calvin Klein or Betsy Johnson demi or extreme plunge, both $58. If I see them at Ross for $5, I might try one.

According to Zafu, Maidenform, which would fit me almost as well and only be $30.

Who wants to try out the free bra and jean matcher and then report back how well Zafu’s service works?

It says that Levi’s City Trouser Jeans are my best fit. They’re only $35, and they’re a style that I’ve been wanting anyway, so I think I will probably try on a pair next chance I get.

    Thanks for the link!

Levi’s 505 Straight Leg Jeans $35. Wow, I might stop wearing jeans made for men! I haven’t even attempted the whole bra issue.

That’s cool. Thanks for the link!

The only way you will find a Perfect Fitting Bra is to either be measured by a professionally trained corsetiere, or teach yourself the professional method. Everyone is different, therefore a personalised course, aimed specifically at individuals is the only way to gauge your correct size via the internet.

Sadly, most stores that offer a measuring service, measure both under and over your bust then subtract a certain number depending on the difference - unless you have small breasts - and event then it’s hit and miss- this will not work, because cup sizes are not measured, they are worked out, either by sight - by professionals, or by knowing how cup sizing is worked out in manufacture and therefore being able to size switch through bra sizes.

If you really want a Perfect Fit, get measured, or teach yourself how to measure yourself, the professional way.

I always took that advice to heart. So I would get myself professionally measured. But, they would always tell me that I was like an A cup. Then I would put an A cup on and it was obviously the wrong size. My breasts are not the average shape so bras fit me differently. I carry a lot of boob in the armpit. The other problem when I’ve been pro-measured is they do it will your ill-fitting bra on. How are they getting an accurate measure of my boob when it’s strapped into an ill-fitting, too small bra?

I’ve found that certain brands will fit my shape of breast better than others. After countless hours spent trying on the wrong brands. The older I get the more molding/shaping I need and want in a bra.

I have the same problem you do, Tracee. The measure-then-subtract method tells me I’m something like a 40 AA, which is just ridiculous and obviously wrong.

You are both victims of the multi-coloured tape measure method!
The only measurement taken by professionals is the underbust (that is, if customers are measured at all - I use a tape, purely because the customer is more likely to believe they are the size you say if they have seen the tape go around them).
Basically the measure twice and take way whatever number you first thought of is and always will be wrong, because each person is an individual.
If you get five friends together and each take turns in holding a couple of oranges in front of your chests, the oranges will look bigger on some than on others. It’s the same with Breasts, your friend might be a 32DD and you a 36C, but you will both have the same volume of breast tissue - i.e the same sized oranges!
The cups are measured only by sight. We see the size of the bust in relation to the size of the customer and fit a bra that way.

For full, detailed instructions on how to measure yourselves the correct way, please visit my website and become a member - I promise your breasts will thank you for it!!
