NY Date Night.
When I make preparations for dates, I believe that plans should coordinate with whatever event or venue we are attending. Either themeatically or geographically.
So, for example, a Broadway show could mean something old New York — like cocktails at Sardi’s before hand and post-theater snacks at a cute, smokey (not anymore) pub in the Broadway district — I’m thinking St. Andrews.
If it’s shopping down in Soho on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, it’s got to be a champagne cocktail at Balthazar or Pastis.
A romantic New York evening (which oddly, could include a U2 concert) calls for a Mario Batali establishment, followed by after-dinner drinks at the Church Bar at Tribeca Grand Hotel.
I also feel it is my responsibility to balance my interests with my date’s (hubby)…therefore, if I love the ballet and he snores through it, I think I owe it to him to take him to an utterly Tony Soprano-esque martini/cigar/antipasto joint…just to be fair. (and mostly so I don’t have to feel so guilty.)
Why do I bring this up? Because. If I must endure an angry, screaming, anti-establishment Neil Young “performance” (even though the concert was someone’s birthday gesture from me) then I think it should be balanced with: drinks at The Four Seasons , followed by dinner at Per Se.
I’m just saying.
Fair and balanced dating.

Hi Richard,
I tried to be a good sport…but towards the end of the concert I had to get up and leave…And he’s from Canada!

Part of me wrote this piece for you…I knew you would pick up on the Pastis reference…lol.
Bellini’s my favorite…I could drink those all night. A b5 Bellini party!
