Is The Superbowl Good For A Marriage?

by Kim on February 2nd, 2007

Superbowl 41

Yesssss!…it’s Superbowl weekend, Prince is doing the half-time show, there are billions of guacamole recipes on the Food Network, advertising rates are at plutonium-level rates.

(Hey! Coke! If you can prove there are actual sales from this spending, call me)

Oh, and it’s costing some American companies millions of dollars in wasted time, while employees sit around talking about the game.

I know, I know it’s the freaking Superbowl…I am actually a football fan.

I’ve got to tell you some of this hysteria annoys bewilders me. Have ya been to the supermarket this week?

It’s as if people are stocking up for the end of the world!

Every year, my husband and 6 of his buddies travel from all parts of the U.S. to the city in which the game is taking place.

This year, sunny, tornado-ridden Florida.

The weekend is more about golf, gigantic steaks, gigantic cocktails and poker more than it is about the actual game. Which is kind of the point, isn’t it?

So, here I sit in freezing New Jersey, alone with my dog Trotter and my Pet Set responsibilities.

Yay.

Did he desperately need the time off? Yes.

Did he have to go? No.

Do his friends want him to come out and play? Yes.

Did he, perhaps need to get away from me and wouldn’t admit it? Yes.

Will he have to clean the hall closet when he comes home, walk the dog, fix the crack in the living room wall, throw away every piece of crap in the garage?

Yes…seriously, yes.

Have fun, honEEEE.

I didn’t even know it was SuperBowl weekend until I saw the cakes in Wal-Mart yesterday. LOL I just don’t keep up with it.

I saw on the news that there are strict rules for tailgating this year.

    Hi Karen…A HA HA…no you “di-int”

Well, hubby will be at his buddy’s home in Naples…can you imagine, six guys in one home…it’s like they’re in friggn high school.

Oh by the way…they all went to high school with one another.

My favorite is the regulation check in phone call to me at 10pm AFTER they’ve been to a 5 star restaurant and been drinking all night. LOLOL, harumph.
