How To Get Jewlery Without Shopping.

OK…This whole post is very shallow. I have to say this…I don’t believe in asking hubby for gifts, especially jewelry. But the thing is I love exquisite jewels. Real ones.
We’ve been married for 22 years, and I’ve never blatantly asked for any gift…other than, maybe PJs, or a kitchen item.
I have had girl friends who have told me that you have to leave hints around the house…catalogues, coupons…do you think Tiffany’s has coupons?
Anyhoo…what I have found out is that men cannot tell the difference between costume jewlery and the real stuff.
So tonight at dinner, wearing a pair of Vera Wang costume earings, hubby mentioned that he liked them…and thought that he’d purchased them as a previous Christmas or Birthday gift. (Which is a totally different post).
Trying my best to be as gracious as possible, I mentioned that they were not real (I, know how gracious is THAT). And that I’d used the extra Shop-Rite money to purchase them, at Bloomingdales….heeeee.
Not wanting me to walk around in costume jewlery, I could see the wheels spinning…yes, there WILL be a BLUE box under the tree this year.
Wait, could he have been saying he liked the Vera Wang earings?

He may have been saying that he liked the Vera Wang earrings. LOL You can buy a lot of stuff (like a car) with the left over money you saved by buying costume jewelry.

I do have some nice key pieces of jewelry, but don’t really feel the need for anymore right now. Maybe later in life. Right now I have two little ones to care for and I’m also concentrating on getting out of debt. Plus I’ve just got too much thrifty blood in me. I guess it’s good that I was summoned to write for Thrifty Mommy.

Yes, diamonds will last forever. I’m sure my daughter will want to get her hands on mine someday. :)
