Fly Like A Celebrity!
I’m not one who complains often about air travel…I generally enjoy everything about flying…I don’t even mind waiting for delayed flights. Of course this anti-social mind set has mostly to do with the fact that I don’t find myself in and out of airports very often.
But, if you are a frequent flyer, you know the torment known as airport fatigue and loneliness: there is the car park, the line to check-in, the ID display, the removal of shoes, the putting of the shoes back on, and the eternally long walkway to the gate at the other side of the airport. There’s also the hoards of people with whom you are forced to share your personal space.
Coming soon is a new form of aircraft called the “microjet” that may be the average person’s version of the glitterati experience. (or passengers of Air Force One.)
In this Sunday’s (7/23) The New York Times Magazine writer Walter Kirn points out that aside for the potential speed and convenience that “air taxis” will bring us is the opportunity for a new sense of community–as, these flights will typically only carry 6 to 8 passengers. That might mean, that if you tend to fly a certain route on a regular basis, you might experience a more relaxed and and more socially connected.
Buckle your seat belts, soon it could really be the “friendly skys!”.
