Barack Obama Won, Hillary Clinton (Doesn’t) Concede?

by Tracee Sioux on June 4th, 2008

Last night Barack Obama garnered enough delegates to become the Democratic Nominee.

Barack Obama is first ever black Democratic Party Nominee for President of the United States in American history.

Hillary did not officially conceed. She said she wasn’t making any decisons. She made a request that her supporters email her in a controversial speech.

It was controversial because many say it showed little grace by not allowing Barack Obama to have his rightful moment to shine.

I noticed he was pretty shiny and didn’t feel he needed her permission or concession to have his moment. It was a good moment.

This morning I’ve been bombarded by some insider emails from the Democratic Party declaring, It’s not Over! The Fight is On!

It’s not over? The fight is on? She didn’t concede?

Were we watching the same speech? I thought it was a concession speech, where she allowed her supporters a respectful period of mourning. It was a speech in which she celebrated what she accomplished rather than focusing on the sorrow of her failure.

She did not speak about continuing her campaign for president. She spoke of continuing her fight for universal healthcare, education, ending poverty, an economy for workers not just employers. Hillary knows she doesn’t have to be president to continue her fight for those things. She’s never been president before and she’s spent her whole life fighting for “the causes of her life.” I loved that she vowed to continue to do so.

They are the life blood of my campaign, and they have been and will continue to be the causes of my life.

This has been a long campaign, and I will be making no decisions tonight. But this has always been your campaign, so to the 18 million people who voted for me and to our many other supporters out there of all ages, I want to hear from you.

I’ll be consulting with supporters and party leaders to determine how to move forward with the best interests of our party and our country guiding my way,

This doesn’t sound like continuing her presidential bid to me.

“Whatever is next” is what she spoke about, which is rightly vague. Vice President, Secretary of State, Foreign Policy Advisor, Secretary of Universal Healthcare (whatever the head of our system will be titled), these are all reasonable and valid potential “whatever is next” for Hillary Clinton.

With 18 million votes, Hillary Clinton got more votes than any primary candidate in the history of The United States.

This speaks to a promising shift in voter apathy. Finally we care.

Barack Obama will be wise to utilize those 18 million votes by using Hillary Clinton in his bid for president.

I’m heading to the Texas Democratic Convention tomorrow morning and I’ll let you know how it goes. There’s a rumor circulating in those insider emails that Hillary Clinton will be speaking!

Ill let you know if she officially concedes.

I’ll publish my letter to Hillary Clinton here tomorrow.

Well, he only won the magic number by counting the pledges of superdelegates, WHO ARE FREE TO CHANGE THEIR VOTES ANYTIME BEFORE THE CONVENTION. A fact you’d hardly know by the way the media is reporting it.

She has the option to take it to the convention floor for an actual vote if she wants to, but I don’t think she will. I expect her to concede in the next few weeks.

Of course, I’ve been sick to my stomach reading the things sexist assholes have said about her today simply for not conceding right away: deranged, selfish, crazy, narcissist, hitler, cunt, old hag, menopausal, racist, lunatic, witch, bitch, and anti-christ to name a few.

Can you believe democrats are talking like that about other democrats, some of the greatest democrats alive? Like, you know who campaigned for Obama to win his seat? Hillary and Bill. Did you know Clinton appointed more african americans to his cabinet than anyone before? Did you know that Howard Ickes lost a kidney fighting for civil rights in the deep south? It’s crazy how they’ve all been vilified.

Those are adjectives, I might add, that were not applied to Teddy Kennedy or Jesse Jackson when they took the race to the convention floor. To quote something I read someone else say about that, “Behold the power of the penis.”

If she stays in it, I’m with her 100%. If Obama offers her the VP, I’ll hold my nose and vote for him.

But he and his supporters better start welcoming me and her other supporters into the fold if he wants our votes. Stop the name calling and vicious attacks. For now, I’m waiting to see what he and his fans do next.

I am so upset over the way that Hillary Clinton was treated by the media, the Senate but especially the black people. Say what you want about Bill Clinton, but he put himself on the chopping block at his innaguration. He chose a black church that day & became the official black President. The The good ole boys from the beltway went after him from that day forward. That was the President I fell in love with and supported, I don’t care about his so called womanizing he was a great & loving man. They turned now on Hillary when she needed them most, why cause of skin color. I thought this wasn’t about race. That’s what Oprah said. But I watched c-spam all day and ended up getting a black history lesson from Everett Ward NC one of the voters for the DNC. It was so uncalled for I was in shock. I would like to know how Obama never ran out of money. Don’t tell me with our economy the way it is that his voters gave it to him. What do we know about Obama, who will he owe favors to for this election & the money given to him to run. Why did he get any votes from Michigan when he wasn’t on the ballot. plus 55 delegates. Michihigan was deleberately done by Sen Levin. But Fla. should have counted all their votes. Republicans are the ones that voted to change the date to the illegal one. I will not vote for Obama not while we are at war. He has no experience. But I will vote for the lesser of 2 evils John McCain. The DNC may get back together they are all back slappers anyway. But they can’t bring the voters back not when they could care less about counting our votes. So now they will when they are for Obama? This is Al Gore all over agin but much dirtier. I have had enough & all 15 voters in my family. I hope more will do the same. This is the only way to keep him from COMMANDER & CHIEF. Thank About it.

What is going on with MSNBC? Why is Billary getting so much attention? I equate Obama nomination with the landing on the moon and all we get is what Billary is doing/saying. She lied about sniper fire, but no one wants to talk about that. I just saw on MSNBC, all these “A”-Holes (Charles Rangel) waiting to kiss here “A”-Hole.

I guess you missed the part where Chris Matthews (of MSNBC) said he didn’t think Hillary should be VP because she can’t learn to OBEY and be SUBSERVIENT to Obama like a good woman should.
