Pastors Parsley and Hagee, according to numerous media reports from a variety of media sources, were specifically sought out by McCain because of their very large “mega-churches” (many thousands of parishioners) for the purpose of attracting the faction of evangelical Christian right wing supporters these churches apparently attract.
Statements by both Parsley and Hagee are beyond inflammatory and controversial. I would characterize their comments as hate speech.
Haven’t we had enough war? Should we stand by while these pastors make comments that offend and/or antagonize Jews, Muslims, Catholics, etc.
If these two get enough national airtime, it sounds like eventually they could pretty well find something to say that would alienate just about everyone.
What happened to the **UNITED** States of America??? We don’t need to pit people and groups against each other (!) and we certainly don’t need people making comments that are antagonizing people in other countries even more than they already have been by George W. Bush… and by these pastors who are continuing to generate even more hatred against the United States.
I certainly don’t advocate censorship. At the same time, words DO matter. Words can start wars.
Let’s take a moment today to honor those who have passed on while protecting our freedom. Let’s honor their memory by taking actions now to promote peace… not war.
To quote John Lennon, “ALL WE ARE SAYING IS GIVE PEACE A CHANCE”!
