5 Virtues of a Gay Club
While in Houston I got to explore one of my “hobbies,” a gay club called SouthBeach. It was Free Paris Hilton Night. They showed Paris Hilton photos on a big screen all night. Oh yeah.
I have always gone to gay clubs, even when I was single, if I wanted to act like a rockstar and dance my ass off. I’ve always LOVED it. While I am straight, it really is one of my top 10 fun things to do.
The top virtues of gay clubs include:
1. Good Clean Fun. I know it sounds odd, but where else are you going to see a cinematic “dance off” with choreographed moves and everything? Seriously, this does happen at gay clubs and it is a riot to watch. Cornball stuff like that could never happen in a straight club.
2. No Judgement. Gay guys just want to be accepted for who they are, so they will allow you to be whoever you want to be without judgement. This leads to a lack of inhibition, which is priceless.
3. Better Music. Let’s face it, I’m old. I can’t freaking stand rap or hip-hop or techno or electronic sounds for dancing. I’m likely to know the words to most of the songs at a gay club and it’s just down right disco - which is totally my scene.
4. Boundaries Respected. This is my top reason for preferring gay clubs to straight clubs. Pink did a whole song about it and I wrote a whole story that. But, basically no straight asshole thinks he has a right to touch me at a gay club. I’m not there to hook up or to entertain some dickhead. I’m there to dance and have fun with my girlfriends, I love that the gay guys are just not interested in me. There’s such freedom to be sexy when you know no one cares.
5. Safe Sexy. You can dress as slutty as you want and no one will even notice. Everyone is slutty at a club, but should some jerk assault you at a straight club everyone will say it was because you were dressed “too slutty.” At a gay club you don’t have to worry about dressing “inappropriately” or “putting yourself at risk.” I think it’s fun to wear high heals and low tops and short skirts every now and then to a club. I think it’s exhilarating to be allowed to do that at gay clubs.

One of my most fun memories was when a good friend and I went with a gay male couple friends of ours to a gay mans lounge here in our area.
I remember the night was pouring down rain, I looked like a drenched rat but had the time of my life because no one there cared what I looked like.
The absolute best part was going to the ladies room. One stall and no wait!
Now being the single straight woman that I was, it was as if I were in my worst nightmare and most pleasant dream at the same time. Those men were HOT! Lemme tell ya and not a one was going to swing my way, not even for the night LOL

Gayla,
In this conservative Southern town I’m not even sure if they have a gay club. I also have a difficult time finding other mothers who are willing to leave their kids or husbands to go out. Such a shame. Because there is just a liberation that is unexplainable for a straight woman in a gay club. Everyone should try it at least once.

I agree. It really is fun!
Another time, a friend of mine was getting married and for her bachelorette party, we went to a drag queen show. Talk about a ton of fun!
A little on the far side, but side splitting fun no doubt!
