Dear Readers,
It’s been about one year to the day that I began presiding over Blog Fabulous — and what a year it’s been!
I’m sure you may have noticed the many — not so stealth comments — about my business The Pet Set, which is doing very well, and now needs my undivided attention.
I was lucky […]

I have been so consumed lately with The Good Life of the dog world and of course The Pet Set that I haven’t even had time for one of my own real passions: cooking.
Until I came across this recipe from one of my heros, Jacques Pepin: Do look up his Beef Burgundy recipe […]

It’s as predictable as seeing holiday table wreath articles all over the place in December:
The Spring Clean-Up tips stories: get your carpets steamed, clean the oven, empty out the spice rack (I still do not remember why I bought Chinese five spice and Herbes de Provence, with lavender).
I am such a horrible house-keeper…and not because […]

No matter what side of the aisle your political passions reside, it must give you pause for reflection and awe — after watching Elizabeth, with Senator Edwards at her side.
She announced that cancer was detected, that it probably had spread and that it is incurable.
Not curable, but treatable.
Which tells us that from now on, our […]

I suppose if even Rachael (do you ever let your guests speak? :) ) Ray is talking about menopause well then everyone must be.
There is one element of this fabulous change in direction in a woman’s life that people are familiar with…but don’t seem to dwell on.
Memory loss or scatter-brain-ness. (And I am just […]

Ever notice how life’s events seem to be sponsored by a company or a product — everything from the Superbowl to the evening news is now the “Large Auto Company Segment.”
Wouldn’t it be fabulous (and profitable) if segments of your life were sponsored by someone?
The Walking The Dog segment is brought to you in part […]

I’d been hearing about deaths of dogs and cats in the U.S. as a result of having eaten tainted pet foods — produced by Canadian pet food manufacturer — Menu Foods.
And of course I got scared…what if the food I have been giving to my dog could kill him?
I didn’t realize the list of brands […]

The woman who owns the dry cleaners near my house had a gorgeous bouquet of flowers on the counter — sent to her from her daughter.
The reason was rather unique — her daughter (whose birthday it had been) was sending her mom flowers to thank her for being her mother.
Isn’t that the sweetest thing you’ve […]

This is a thank you note to two women I met not more than 3 years ago: My illustrator, Colleen M. Madden and My printing production specialist, Josephine Pope.
We began working together on Pet Set with nothing to go on but my vision of what the company was going to be…and it […]

I’ve told you before — while normal people do deep breathing exercises or take a walk around the block to relieve stress, I shop for office supplies.
Wandering around ProfessionalDiva.com, I stumbled upon THE chicest line of office supplies, gifts and stationery at SeeJaneWork.com.
Just look at how adorable their hanging file folders and portfolios are!
So, if […]

If you find yourself in or near Manhattan, tomorrow March 17th…try to stop in to the city.
If you can get close to Fifth Avenue — while there will be thousands of “happy Irish folks”, you’ll witness one of the best and most gleeful St. Patrick’s Day Parades in the country.
Also, one of the more […]

As a woman who is not very adept at fixing things around the house, I feel great when I successfully complete a DIY project.
Usually having to deal with home improvement tasks means that hubby is either blind or he just doesn’t want to deal with them.
Take my unlit foyer and office closets, as basic examples. […]

Let’s talk about where we are in this country when it comes to talent and culture, shall we?
Movies created on cell phones and produced on You Tube? Music created from software packages? Sports figures who take steroids so they can break a legendary player’s home run record? Architecture that is less than 30 […]

As a business owner, I am a staunch believer that customer service is THE key ingredient to a successful business.
For me, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics is a superb example of customer support at it’s finest.
It’s only taken me 20 years to figure out how make-up works, in terms what is appropriate my own color palette and […]

Everyday, I come across a feature story about a stay-at-home mom who takes a simple idea and turns it into a viable and even multi-million dollar business.
From fabric alphabet letters that ended up as a prop on Friends, to scrapbooking, to door-to-door salon services…the thing these women have in common is their desire to work […]
